Quillarumiyoq Tour – Andean Purification Ritual in Cusco

We will go with our tourist transportation to pick you up at 7:30 AM, we will go to the northwest of the city of Cusco, 1 hour average trip.

Upon arrival to Quillarumiyoq, before starting with the ritual activity we will have a brief moment for the recognition of the place while our professional team is preparing to start the ceremony.

Then our Andean priest PAQO, will give the opening of the ceremony before with the permission of the place (PACHAMAMA) our mother earth – (APUKUNA) our sacred mountains and the gratifying reception of our sacred space, to proceed with the realization of the ritual of PURIFICATION, CLEANING AND HEALTH.

Also all participants will have a personal cleansing with flowery water for greater concentration and energetic balance during the ceremony.

The duration of the ceremony will take about 2 hours, in the process of the ceremony we will have the interpretation of each component element of the offering.

Our Paqo (Andean Priest) will perform a prayer or personal petition and cleansing of each person. To finish with the ceremony we will have a toast of brotherhood and then proceed to burn or bury the offering according to what was the purpose.

After finishing the ceremony, we will have a prudent time for each one to have a personal space.
To finish the day’s activity, we will continue the trip in the tourist unit to the community of Pongobamba near the Piuray lagoon, where we will have the typical Pachamanca lunch.

Finally, we will share a traditional Pachamanca lunch accompanied with infusions of mate muña and Hierba buena, prepared by the families of the community.

After concluding all this activity we return to Cusco.

WHAT IS PACHAMANCA?

The pachamanca is a traditional way of preparing food underground, it is a typical dish of the gastronomy of ancient Peru. It consists of preparing a medium stone oven to heat for about an hour then place different viands such as pork, chicken and guinea pig previously seasoned with ingredients such as chincho, huacatay, chili and other spices, along with additional Andean native products such as potatoes, sweet potato, corn, beans and cassava. After about 45 minutes you will be ready to enjoy the delicious pachamanca.
