Puno Cultural

Description

Puno, known as the “Folkloric Capital of Peru”, is a fascinating destination located on the shores of the imposing Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world, at 3,827 meters above sea level. This place combines an incomparable cultural richness with spectacular landscapes. The main attraction of Puno is Lake Titicaca and its islands, such as the Floating Islands of the Uros, built entirely of totora reeds, where visitors can learn about the ancestral traditions of this community. Taquile Island and Amantani Island, famous for their hospitality, handicraft weavings and panoramic views, also stand out.

The city of Puno has a vibrant cultural life, reflected in its music, dances and festivals, such as the Candelaria Festival, declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. In addition, the historic center houses the Cathedral of Puno, a beautiful example of mestizo baroque architecture.

From Puno you can also explore archaeological sites such as Sillustani, a complex of mysterious chullpas (burial towers) located in a breathtaking landscape.

Puno is a unique destination where nature and culture intertwine, offering an unforgettable experience for those seeking to immerse themselves in the tradition and beauty of the Peruvian Andes.
