Piuray Lagoon (Andean Marriage Ritual)

Andean Wedding Ritual in Cusco: Sacred Marriage Experience at Piuray Lagoon with Qatawi Tours

At the coordinated time, with our tourist transport we will pick you up at your hotel to go to the Piuray Lagoon near Chinchero, about 50 minutes away. There we will have a suitable and prepared space for the realization of our ceremony or ritual of LOVE – MARRIAGE will be led by an Andean priest who will start with the reading of coca leaves and a request for permission to Mama Qocha (Lagoon), Pachamama and the Apukuna. In order for our ceremony to be successful and beneficial for all participants. Also each participant will be cleansed with flowery water to begin the ritual.

This ceremony will take 2 to 3 hours. During the ceremony we will have explanations of each element that composes the offering. In the opening, during and the final part of the ceremony we will have ancestral music consisting of percussion and wind instruments.

Our Paqo (Andean Priest) will have a prayer and cleansing of each person to end the ceremony. To finish the ceremony we will have a toast of brotherhood and then proceed to burn or bury the offering according to what was the purpose.

After the ceremony is over, we will have some free time for everyone to have a personal space.

Finally, we will share a traditional Pachamanca lunch prepared by the families of the nearby community.

After concluding all this activity we return to Cusco.
